some of the best 55-inch TVs

by Chris Duffill |
Updated on

Way back when I bought my first television on a shoestring budget, the idea of getting my hands on any of the best 55-inch TVs that graced the home entertainment section of the local store was a bit of a pipe dream. Now, nestled alongside the very best TVs money can buy, a 4K smart TV with a 55-inch screen actually sits right in the middle of the size range. It's no longer the largest screen I'd ever seen, so I treated myself to a 65-inch smart TV. But, only a few years later, a house move meant a 55-inch set would be a much better option, And I've never looked back. Thankfully, that's because most screens now share many of the same advanced features inside, no matter the size.

This size of screen is definitely a favourite of mine, and with many buyers, as they're a really practical size for most living rooms. After all, not everyone needs or can accommodate an 85-inch TV with a price tag that'll make your eyes water – for me, 65-inches was perhaps overkill. My advice? Well, whether you're gaming, catching up on soaps and movies, preparing to watch the latest major sporting event or bingeing on a box set – you need to take the time to consider what you'll be using it for the most.

Best 55-inch TVs of 2025 at a glance

You may be wondering who the best 55-inch TVs are for. As in my case, if you have a little less wriggle room in your home or budget, a 40-inch TV might do the trick. But if (also like myself) you've settled on the 55-inch screen size there are still choices to be made. I'm a movie buff, so a 4K screen with an OLED or QLED panel is something I recommend to get the best out of your blockbusters; plus support for Dolby Atmos or DTX sound. More casual viewers might put their money into smart functions instead and easy access to their favourite streaming apps; but as a gamer I also needed a low-latency screen with fast and variable refresh rates. Sounds like a jargon headache? No problem – I've included a buyer's guide and more at the end of the article.

While it's tempting to jump straight into buying a rather large 65-inch smart TV, for me, a 55-inch screen hits the sweet spot. It offers plenty of connectivity options and equally stunning cinematic experiences. And you don't need to spend a fortune to get many of the high-end features you might want or need. So, with all of those collective wish lists in mind, I've rounded up the very best 4k 55-inch TVs available right now.

How we chose the best 55-inch TVs

When deciding our shortlist, the first thing we consider is picture quality. That means we want high resolution televisions such as Full HD or 4k. We also look for models that support HDR for a truer, wider colour palette, plus any special features that deliver the best possible picture. Factors such as whether they use OLED, Mini-LED, or QLED, the type of backlighting they use, and how bright they are, will all influence our choices.

We also want TVs that provide good quality sound, even without the aid of a speaker system or soundbar. Often the best TVs for sound will be those in a higher price bracket with more internal speakers and special features that deliver surround sound effects and so on.

All prices are correct at the time of writing. Prices, stock and deals are subject to change without notice.

Samsung 55 Inch S95C 4K OLED HDR Smart TV (2023)Samsung

Without a doubt, we think this is one of the most technologically advanced televisions in recent years. Samsung has managed to pull off what once seemed impossible – blending the rich, vivid colours of top-tier QLED displays with the deep blacks and striking contrast of OLED.

The result is a viewing experience that feels truly next-level. The visuals are nothing short of spectacular, delivering intense detail that sets a new benchmark for 55-inch TVs. Samsung’s OLED Glare Free technology minimizes reflections, ensuring clarity even in brightly lit rooms. Whether you're diving into the latest blockbuster, exploring cutting-edge games, or getting lost in an emotional TV drama, the S95D makes every frame shine.

Sound quality is just as impressive. With Dolby Atmos and DTS support, alongside Samsung’s Object Tracking Sound+ (OTS+), audio feels more immersive than ever. OTS+ intelligently positions sound to match on-screen action, while Adaptive Sound Pro and Active Voice Amplifier ensure that dialogue remains crisp and clear against background noise.

The absence of Freeview Play support may be a drawback for some, but in terms of having a wide range of uses and high-end features, we think the S95D is one of the best 55-inch OLED TVs on the market.

Pros

  • Breathtaking OLED technology for even deeper colour accuracy and contrast
  • Fantastic gaming potential thanks to AMD FreeSync and Game Motion Plus
  • Brilliant for realistic sound with Object Tracking Sound, DTS-X and Dolby Atmos

Hisense 55 Inch 4K Smart TV 55E6NTUK

Best budget 55-inch TV

Expert rating:
4.0
Hisense 55 Inch 4K Smart TV 55E6NTUKHisense

Hisense is known for its incredibly reasonably priced televisions, even its high-end QLED models are considerably more affordable than other competing brands. But to hit this incredibly low price point, the Hisense 55E6NTUK uses an LED panel but with some excellent technical extras. For us, this is perhaps one of the best-priced televisions on the market.

It comes equipped with everything you've come to expect from a modern smart television – full smart app access, HDR10+, Bluetooth, and more. But they've thrown in the king of HDR colour palette performance, Dolby Vision, too. That means ever more colours for a vibrant, more natural picture. This is supported by full array local dimming, an essential component of high-quality HDR displays which means you'll get fuller, deeper blacks. Despite having DTS Virtual X sound, some users did mention that the sound can be tinny at times, but that's easily solved with a soundbar.

The Hisense 55E6NTUK is the perfect budget television that, other than not having the 120Hz refresh rate preferred by some gamers, doesn't have any major drawbacks. It even comes with the latest development in free-to-air TV – Freely. Freely puts all of your favourite content from channels like ITV, BBC and more all under one umbrella. So, no more having to switch between different apps. All in all, budget brilliance.

Pros

  • An amazing array of advanced features for the price
  • Vibrant and realistic colours thanks to HDR and Dolby Vision
  • DTS virtual X for immersive sound

Cons

Best 55-inch TV with Fire TV

Expert rating:
4.0
Amazon Fire TV 55-inch Omni QLED series 4K Amazon

This Amazon Fire TV 55-inch Omni QLED is a brilliant option for a few reasons. You're getting a really capable and vibrant screen and it runs Amazon's Fire TV OS – that makes for easy connection to Prime Video and other Amazon services. Fire TV is an excellent TV platform, offering support for all the major streaming services you might expect – Netflix, Disney Plus, and Apple TV as well as Now TV and Discovery+.

The standout feature has to be that QLED screen – rich colours, vibrant pictures and really impressive sound thanks to Dolby Digital audio. It utilises a full-array LED setup to deliver the best possible contrast with local dimming to push those blacks down even deeper

It's a 60Hz panel rather than the 120Hz, but it supports variable refresh rate and auto low latency mode – great for gamers and fans of high speed, high frame-rate content like sports in 4K. And, as you'd expect from an Amazon product, you also get Alexa built-in for fast and easy voice control. Some users do report that the menus and guide for Freeview can be sluggish at times, but other than that we think it's really is impressive for a smart television at this price point and a real plus for Amazon subscribers.

In fact, we think this also qualifies as one of the best 55-inch TVs un der £1000.

Pros

  • A brilliant TV for Amazon members with the Fire TV operating system
  • Excellent HDR support with HDR10+ and Dolby Vision
  • Built-in Alexa for voice control

Hisense 55 Inch 144Hz 4K QLED Smart Gaming TV 55E7NQTUK PROHisense

It wouldn't be a true roundup of the best televisions of the year without mentioning the Hisense QLED Smart Gaming TV 55E7NQTUK PRO, a 2024 model brimming with features. With the legendary near-infinite blacks you get with QLED, we think that this is the ultimate 55-inch television for gaming as well as rich realistic cinema experiences.

A breathtakingly slim bezel surrounds the gorgeous QLED panel that has full array local dimming for excellent control over contrast and deeper blacks – great for immersion in those games that need realistic shadows and depth. Audio comes courtesy of with some formidable 40W speakers twinned with Dolby Atmos. Colour realism is delivered by HDR and Dolby Vision IQ – giving a more accurate and super-wide colour palette. Some users do report that the viewing angles aren't as wide as some others, but as most gamers will sit facing the TV we don't think that this is an issue.

There's a 144Hz refresh rate too with ALLM and AMD FreeSync Premium Pro compatibility – those features will give you a variable refresh rate and smoother, more detailed images – ideal for any fast on-screen motion. There's also auto low latency mode to put you on course for a win. All in all, we think this is a comprehensive yet affordable package designed to give gamers the best possible experience.

Pros

  • 144Hz maximum refresh rate for smooth gaming
  • The response time is lightning fast for gaming accuracy
  • QLED display for vibrant, detailed visuals

Cons

  • Limited viewing angles compared to some, so keep in mind if you need to view this from the side

Panasonic TV-55W80AEY W80 Series 55-inch 4K LED Smart TV

Best 55-inch Panasonic TV

Expert rating:
4.0
Panasonic TV-55W80AEY W80 Series 55-inch 4K LED Smart TVPanasonic

If you're looking for a premium TV with a mid-range price tag, the Panasonic TV-55W80AEY W80 may be the screen for you. Whereas many of our favourite TVs utilise QLED, this screen does use a more standard LED panel – but it uses a Quantum Dot Layer to deliver outstanding colour accuracy and authentic tones. Naturally, this also supports HDR in the form of the superior HDR 10+ and Dolby Vision IQ formats.

On paper, this isn't that different from many other smart TVs out there, but we've always been impressed by Panasonic's commitment to delivering more natural-looking pictures than most brands can. Here, that comes via the HCX processor that does a fantastic job of fine-tuning the image on the fly.

The only nitpick we found in our research is the fact that this is indeed an LED panel – so if you're looking for superior black levels and contrast you should look for a QLED set. That said, the overall user opinion on the picture quality on offer is very positive, so we think this is a minor quibble.

Elsewhere, Panasonic has incorporated Dolby Atmos for superior sound, and it's also one for the newer TVs to incorporate Freely for an easy one-stop-shop for the UK's terrestrial channels. It's running the Fire TV operating system which is fast and reliable, as well as a usability boost for Amazon subscribers.

Pros

  • Balanced 4K visuals with natural colours
  • Dolby Atmos for rich audio performance
  • User-friendly Fire OS for streaming ease

Cons

  • The LED panel is where the cost savings are made, so blacks not as deep as a QLED or OLED

Philips Ambilight 55OLED759 4K OLED Smart TV

Best immersive 55-inch TV

Expert rating:
4.5
PHILIPS Ambilight 55OLED759 4K OLED Smart TVPHILIPS

When it comes to watching TV, films, or playing games, the Philips 55OLED759 television takes things to a different level. This TV offers superb picture quality, a dedicated speaker array to deliver improved audio without using a soundbar or speakers, all in an incredibly sleek package. And Philips' Ambilight feature is the cherry on top of an already impressive cake.

Ambilight is designed to project ambient lighting onto the wall around the television. When it's set to 'vivid', the colours will change to match whatever is on the screen. It's impressive technology which helps to create a more immersive experience, and it's virtually unique to Philips televisions. Philips also claims that by minimising the contrast between a bright screen and dark surroundings, Ambilight can help reduce eye strain.

This particular TV isn't just about gimmicks, though. As well as Ambilight, this OLED display delivers stunning picture quality. It supports HDR content, including Dolby Vision and HDR10+ formats. It's also got plenty for gamers, with a 120Hz refresh rate, Variable Refresh Rate, Auto Low Latency Mode, and Dolby Vision gaming support. We particularly love the inclusion of both Alexa and Google voice assistants for easy integration with your smart home.

It's a slightly thicker television than some rivals, but that's expected due to the Ambilight feature. The lighting effect does need some space to be effective, so anyone who wants their TV to sit as flush to the wall as possible might need to look elsewhere. Users report that the Dolby Atmos audio is impressive, too. This is our favourite TV for truly immersive entertainment.

Pros

  • Ambilight is great for immersion and can help reduce eye strain
  • Deep blacks and vibrant OLED colours
  • Loads of smart features for gaming and more

Jack Barrell / WTB

Experience next-generation viewing with a 55-inch Sky Glass TV, which we think is something of a marvel in home entertainment thanks to its seamlessly integrated Sky streaming service. Here, there's no need for a satellite dish as everything streams directly through a Wi-Fi connection, making setup and daily use remarkably straightforward.

With its simple operation, this TV ticks all the boxes for anyone seeking power and simplicity in a smart TV. The vibrant, 4K QLED display brings your favourite shows and films to life in stunning clarity, with superior colour and contrast. As a TV aimed at Sky subscribers, it offers tailored content recommendations and quick access to all of your favourite shows and movies.

In his full Sky Glass TV review, Jack Barrell was also impressed by its grand total of six internal speakers and Dolby Atmos support, giving this TV a realism boost when it comes to immersive audio. There's no Alexa or Google voice assistants, but it can be voice controlled using the "Hello Sky" command. It's also only 60Hz, so if you want a higher refresh rate for gaming and so on you might want to look at others in our list. There are limited customisation options for anyone who isn't a Sky subscriber, but we think this is reasonable given who this set it aimed at.

Overall, we think that this is all-in-one media powerhouse, combining superb audio-visual performance with a stylish, frameless silhouette, bringing a sophisticated entertainment hub into your living room.

Pros

  • All-encompassing entertainment system for Sky subscribers
  • Excellent QLED panel and Dolby Vision HDR for more colour range

Best 55-inch TV for wall mounting

Expert rating:
4.5

Wall mounting your TV has become increasingly popular over the years. So, it makes sense to consider getting a TV that's designed specifically for this purpose. Samsung is often at the forefront of innovation, so this latest version of The Frame, the Samsung QE55LS03D, is a real eye-opener.

The display itself is a gorgeous 4K QLED panel that offers exceptional contrast between light and dark. It's also got a variable 120Hz refresh rate, and support for HDR10+ and HLG for an extended colour palette. It's genuinely one of the best designed TVs around. But, our favourite feature of The Frame is just that – it'll also display your favourite works of art. That really transforms the TV into part of your interior décor.

As you'd expect, it’s perfect for wall mounting – designed to leave almost no gap between the TV and the wall. While we think that the addition of such a prominent frame-like bezel won't appeal to those with more minimalistic tastes, we think it's more of a bonus for art fans.

When you are watching movies and TV on it, there's also Dolby Atmos sound support for crystal clear soundscapes. We're impressed to find a couple of upward-firing internal speakers too – brilliant for overhead sound effects.

Pros

  • Extremely slim and well-designed display which beautiful to look at
  • Specifically designed with wall mounting in mind
  • Atmos audio support with some upfiring speakers for a great surround effect

Sony BRAVIA 8 OLED, K55XR80

Best Sony 55-inch TV

Expert rating:
4.5

Some of the best Sony TVs we've seen in recent years really cement the brand's long-standing reputation as a leader in the field. And with the BRAVIA 8 OLED K55XR80, it has produced yet another incredible premium TV that’s perfect for any die-hard cinephiles who are looking for superior image quality.

In terms of picture quality, brightness, motion response, and gaming, this is one of the best around. Whether you're watching sports, movies or box sets, you're going to have a great experience. The K55XR80 is designed to recreate images exactly as the creator's intended, as it works with Netflix Calibrated Mode and Amazon Prime Video Calibrated Mode for total picture accuracy. There's even a IMAX enhanced mode for the ultimate home cinema experience.

All of this audio-visual goodness is aided by Sony's AI features, XR Contrast Booster and Triluminos Pro features, plus amazing Dolby Atmos performance and gaming features aimed at PS5 owners. There's also plenty of support for gamers, as this TV supports 4K/120Hz via two HDMI 2.1 ports, as well as VRR and ALLM. The Bravia cam that comes with it can recognise where you’re sitting and adjust picture and sound settings accordingly. You can also cover the camera if you're concerned about privacy.  It’s also got some of the best built-in speakers currently available. With this TV, you may not need to bother with a separate soundbar.

Our one complaint is with Sony's decision to put the feet of this TV at the very edges of the bottom of the screen. This means you'll need an extremely wide TV stand for it to fit on, otherwise you're looking at a wall mount.  Other than that, it's a quality premium choice when it comes to 55-inch TVs.

Pros

  • Impressive colour accuracy and brightness
  • Advanced AI for optimized image quality
  • Excellent Dolby Atmos audio

LG 55QNED87T6B 55-Inch 4K UHD Smart TV

Best LG 55-inch TV

Expert rating:
4.5

Perhaps the first thing we should mention about the LG 55QNED87T6B is the panel, as it's a QNED. So, what is QNED? Well, it stands for Quantum Nanocell LED, and is a hybrid of the quantum dots you'll find in a QLED TV and the tightly-packed backlight of mini-LED TVs. All in all, that means you're getting the best of both worlds in terms of colour and tone accuracy; not to mention brightness, contrast and vibrancy.

But the panel is just one part if the picture, as it also has AI-enhanced image optimization from the α8 AI Processor. There's Amazon Alexa thrown in for good measure – accessible via the remote, plus a host of smooth motion and gaming features to take advantage of that 120Hz refresh rate.

Plus, it offers a fantastically-wide range of apps thanks to the fast and intuitive award-winning webOS platform. The only drawback we found in our research was that some users report slightly narrower viewing angles than others. Although it's a fully-fledged smart TV, we're happy to see lots of inputs at the back for all of your devices and more – including both a satellite and terrestrial aerial input.

All that said, for us this TV is all about being able to enjoy all of those colour-critical programmes and movies in glorious detail and with superb accuracy. Your nature documentaries, sweeping vistas and landscapes (alien or terrestrial) will never look better.

Pros

  • Impressive colour accuracy and brightness levels from the QNED panel

Expert's choice

My absolute favourites from this list are the Samsung S95D, and the Sony BRAVIA 8 OLED K55XR80. As a current Samsung owner, I think that the S95D represents a really meaningful upgrade in both picture and sound. It's wide range of capabilities and uses are also reasons to buy. On the other hand, I've fully tested the Sony BRAVIA and as a film fan it's my choice for an OLED model. It's the calibration modes for Netflix and Amazon Prime that accurately match the image to what the Director intended that impresses me most, plus IMAX compatibility.

What to look for in a 55-inch TV

Whether you want to spend a fortune to get the best of the best, or you're looking for something a little cheaper, modern TVs can offer a plethora of incredible features that really do enhance the viewing experience. Here are some other things to look out for when considering a 55-inch TV:

Consider your space

As well as delivering superb picture quality, most, if not all, of the best 55-inch TVs are also incredibly slim and have barely any bezels surrounding the display. This means that even a relatively large screen size – such as 55 inches – will take up a relatively smaller amount of space than you might expect. They also look far sleeker and more attractive as a result. But, you should always measure up and make sure that the position of your TV allows for comfortable viewing. If you're planning on wall-mounting your TV, make sure it's not too high – such as above a tall fireplace mantel – as this can be uncomfortable.

Budget

You may be wondering if parting with hundreds, if not thousands of pounds is worth it for a new telly. Ultimately, that's a question only you can answer. But if your current television is more than a few years old then in our opinion, a modern TV will offer a transformative experience. There have been huge improvements compared to what was available five or ten years ago. We'd consider it money worth spending, especially if you enjoy watching TV, films, or gaming.

Get smart?

Most 55-inch TVs will be able to connect to your Freeview aerial, so you're guaranteed to always find something to watch from terrestrial channels. If you're a casual viewer, the Freeview Play app included with any smart TV will give you access to more on-demand terrestrial content. And then there are other on-demand services like BBC iPlayer, ITV Hub, and All 4. Therefore, you can catch up on all sitcoms, soaps, and reality TV shows. There’s also access to subscription services like Netflix and Amazon Prime Video. These pipe the latest premium entertainment, including blockbuster films, right to your screen. There are myriad other streaming apps and services available, too.

Do you want to play a game?

If you're a gamer, you won't be short on choice. As you'll discover, some of the best and most affordable gaming televisions you can find will give you an unprecedented experience. Look for HDR (High Dynamic Range) for support for over a billion colours and we recommend a QLED or OLED panel type for inky blacks and good contrast.

Refresh rates

Silky smooth gameplay with immersive surround sound awaits – the key aspect to look for is a higher variable refresh rate. Consoles are now capable of high framerates and so exceed the normal 60Hz refresh rate of the average TV. So, we recommend that you look for one that supports 120hz and is variable (often known as VRR, with various branded versions like G-sync or FreeSync). That will make for smooth and detailed on-screen visuals.

If there's one type of gadget that has more than its fair share of technobabble, it's TVs. Here are the most common ones you'll come across, explained:

4K UHD vs. Full HD

When we talk about 4K (or 4K UHD), we're referring to the resolution of the display – essentially, the number of pixels that make up the image. A 4K screen boasts a resolution of 3840×2160 pixels, packing in roughly 8.3 million pixels in total. That’s four times the detail of a Full HD display at only 1920×1080 pixels. While 8K displays are beginning to emerge, there’s not a lot of content available at that resolution. For now, if you want the sharpest, most detailed picture, 4K is your best bet.

HDR and Dolby Vision

HDR (High Dynamic Range) enhances a TV’s ability to display colour, offering a much wider palette over standard TVs – with over a billion shades at its command. But it’s not just about a more colourful image; it’s about greater accuracy and depth. All said and done, it adds extra realism. HDR10+ takes this further by incorporating additional colour information, with even more details in both bright and dark areas of the screen. That's amazing for shadow detail and subtlety.

Dolby Vision is Dolby’s take on HDR10 and HDR10+ and is designed to push HDR image quality even higher. It fine-tunes brightness, contrast, and colour to the best standard available. As a result, Dolby Vision is often considered one of the leading formats for HDR support.

LED and LCD displays

LED (Light-Emitting Diode) technology is widely used in modern TVs as a backlight for LCD (Liquid Crystal Display) panels. Without a backlight, any image on an LCD screen would be barely visible. While LED backlit TVs are still very common, they’re the oldest display technology here. As such, they tend to be more affordable, but their brightness control and contrast levels are no match for QLED or OLED.

Micro LED & Mini LED displays

Micro LED takes LED technology to new heights. Instead of using a broad backlight that can often wash out the image, each microscopic LED is also its own light source. By adjusting brightness of each, you get exceptional contrast, deeper black levels, and wide viewing angles. In these areas, a Micro LED will often exceed that of OLED technology. However, Micro LED TVs are expensive and, at least at the time of writing, are available only in larger screen sizes.

Mini LED, on the other hand, works similarly but uses slightly larger LEDs. They're not small enough to act as individual pixels. Instead, they serve as a more precise backlight for an LCD panel. Mini LED TVs use dimming zones to create deeper blacks and enhanced contrast, achieving some of the benefits of Micro LED and OLED, but with a more affordable price tag.

OLED & QD-OLED displays

OLED (Organic Light-Emitting Diode) screens don’t need a separate backlight. Each pixel emits its own light, resulting in exceptional colour accuracy, contrast, and inky blacks. This makes OLED TVs a top choice for movie fanatics, as they can deliver the sort of layered shadows and perfect blacks that are ideal for horror films or upcoming games like Doom: The Dark Ages. The one drawback? OLEDs aren’t as bright as some other screen types, but they still outperform standard LED displays in most settings.

A close-cousin to OLED is the new QD-OLED (Quantum Dot OLED) technology found in high-end Samsung and Sony TVs. It combines the self-illuminating properties of OLED with Quantum Dots for superior brightness and expanded colour range. Due to not needing a backlight, QD-OLED can achieve stunning visuals with richer colours and more intense highlights, making it a compelling hybrid of those two leading TV technologies.

QLED & QNED

QLED (Quantum Dot LED) TVs aim to deliver OLED-like performance at a slightly lower cost. They use a layer of Quantum Dots to enhance the colour while still relying on a backlight. While they don’t quite achieve the truest black levels like OLEDs, they come very close. And that extra brightness makes up for that, making them a solid choice for use in brightly-lit rooms. The viewing angles aren’t as wide as OLED though, but in terms of colour vibrancy and HDR performance, QLED TV screens are hard to beat.

QNED (Quantum NanoCell LED) is another hybrid of two of the technologies we've mentioned. An LG invention, it combines Mini LED backlighting with a Quantum Dot layer; This replaces the sort of self-illumination you'd find in an OLED TV with finely controlled Mini LED lighting zones. QNED TVs offer deep blacks and excellent contrast, sometimes at a lower cost than OLED. However, some users note that they don’t reach the brightness levels of QLED and have a slightly slower response time compared to OLED, which might be an issue for gamers.

Best 55-inch TVs FAQs

What size room is good for a 55 inch TV?

Only you can answer this question after balancing up your budget, requirement, and available space. However, one thing we can advise you on when it comes to watching the even best 55-inch TVs is the recommended viewing distance.

Here’s a rough guide to give you an idea of the minimum distance you should have from your TV:

32-inch TV - 60 inches (5 feet)
40-inch TV - 80 inches (6.7 feet)
49-inch TV / 50-inch TV - 100 inches (8.3 feet)
55 inches - 108 inches (9 feet)
60 inches - 120 inches (10 feet)
75 inches - 150 inches (12.5 feet)

Which TV brand is the most reliable?

Our favourite TV brands are also famously reliable, such as Sony, Samsung, Panasonic, LG and Philips. However, some other brands like Hisense and Amazon Fire TVs are also well regarded by buyers.

How much should I spend on a 55-inch TV?

If you're more than a casual viewer who loves to watch TV and films at the highest possible quality, we think that any smart TV with a QLED or OLED panel will be worth the investment, particularly if it has 4K resolution with HDR. Generally, the overall quality of a smart TV with these features is partly tied to the brand. There is no rule of thumb over how much you should spend, but we think that any 55-inch TV with high-end specifications and features is worth spending more than £500 on.

How high should a 55 inch TV be mounted in a bedroom?

As everyone's bedrooms will differ in size and TV placement (not to mention your position if watching from bed), we recommend getting the external measurements of your chosen 55-inch TV and, using paper or card cut to the same size, experiment with viewing positions. This is especially important if your bed has a high frame or if you tend to watch your bedroom TV while fully reclined.
