At a colossal 75 inches, Samsung's Q80B is both staggeringly huge and breathtakingly gorgeous with a full-fledged QLED screen worthy of any home cinema setup (should you have the space). At a whopping 1500 nits of peak brightness, Samsung's Q80B is no ordinary smart television.

100 per cent colour volume coupled with immersive depth-inducing HDR and VRR technology gives the Q80B a vivid cinematic quality that is, for the most part, unparalleled at its price.

What's more, gamers can also rejoice - for Samsung's impeccably-priced, stupendously sizeable smart TV has a breakneck refresh rate of 120Hz - giving console gamers a crisp, ultra-responsive gaming experience that's difficult to top.

Our nitpicks with this terrific TV are minor, and yet it is worth mentioning for film aficionados. The Q80B lacks any kind of Dolby Vision support - that is an intelligent program that upscales and enhances picture depth and quality for an improved cinematic experience. Unfortunately, this lack of Dolby Vision support is sorely missed, sometimes images can appear too bright, and contrary to the mood and atmosphere of certain scenes - but this, in all honesty, is quite rare and for most, isn't a cause for concern.

While you may be fortunate enough to spend a massive amount of money on a 70-inch Neo-QLED television, sometimes sticking to a budget is the wisest decision.

Most 70-inch televisions are rarely below £1,000, so we were simply lost for words when we came across Philips' 70PUS7607/12 - one of the most brilliant, yet affordable LED TVs of the year.

Out of the gate - the Philips 70PUS7607/12 is brimming with absurdly fantastic tech for its price - from HDR10 to even Dolby Vision- Philips has ensured that you truly get more than enough value from this affordable television through some clever post-processing for emphasised brightness and contrast, and the result is truly difficult to fault at its price.

In terms of its build quality - as you can expect there are some setbacks - the back of the 70PUS7607/12 has a non-uniform, largely brittle plastic back, which is only improved by the wonderfully thin bezel - giving you just that little extra screen for your cash.

Quite expectedly, the lower-end Philips 70PUS7607/12 lacks the cinematic sucker-punch of the higher-end Samsung television models with an audio output of roughly 20W - but that's nothing a great soundbar can't correct, and you should have enough spare cash left over to get something particularly bassy considering how good a deal the 70PUS6707/12 truly is.

All in all, despite its issues - Philips' 70PUS7607/12 is nothing short of a bargain - and is perfect for those looking to bring the giant spectacle of the cinema home, without spending too much cash.

LG's magnum opus - the C2 OLED TV decisively sweeps the board as the top OLED television right now - and there's no doubt as to why. Blasting through gaming at 120Hz (with a 0.1ms response time - the fastest on the television market) with all manner of sync technology for the optimum gaming experience, the C2 offers one of the most seamless gaming experiences ever.

OLED TVs have caught a bad wrap from television enthusiasts for being dimmer than their QLED counterparts in exchange for their razor-thin design and breakneck speed, but as the self-lighting screens have progressed and advanced in recent years, so too has their brightness capability.

With a peak brightness of around 700 nits, LG's C2 is a significant step up for the OLED TV market - colours on the C2 are wonderfully bold and vibrant, accentuated dramatically by the near-infinite contrast thanks to having no backlighting whatsoever. As a result, black levels are essentially perfect, giving the C2's picture an unfathomable amount of depth and realism.

In terms of build quality, the C2 is nothing short of breathtaking - with razor-thin bezels and a truly slim screen - the C2 is a glimpse into the future of OLED TV technology and is not remotely lacking in elegance for an instant.

Unfortunately, OLED technology isn't without its issues right now - for one, the lack of backlighting causes perfect white colours to appear slightly dull compared to its QLED counterpart's eye-burningly bright white colours, which may be a disappointment to some users. And yet, in exchange for some duller colours, you get some genuinely beautiful contrast, ultra-rapid refresh rates and one of the best-designed OLED televisions on the market - so we think it's definitely a worthy sacrifice.

Getting an excellent deal on a 70-inch television is no easy feat. And yet, with Samsung's gargantuan BU8000 70-inch smart TV, there's really no competition on sheer value for money and quality.

Samsung is undeniably one of the finest television manufacturers on the market with hundreds of cutting-edge televisions available at a drastic price range.

The BU8000 may not come equipped with quantum-dot technology or razor-thin OLED panels, but what it does do is provide a sincerely beautiful picture, enhanced with ingeniously integrated HDR technology that teases out bold contrast and colour from every pixel, all without costing customers heaps of cash.

In terms of its design, the BU8000 is simple, yet beautiful with thin bezels, an unobtrusive foot-style stand, and a flush and narrow build that makes it perfect for wall mounting. Samsung's BU8000 is built for versatility, in both design and budget, giving you plenty of additional funds to spend on revamping the rest of your home cinema.

For gamers, Samsung's BU8000, unfortunately, doesn't have a whole lot of support - it runs at 60Hz, which for most isn't going to bother you, but it just doesn't quite compete with the higher-tier televisions on our list for the best quality gaming experience.

Samsung's BU8000 is one of thebest televisions under £1,000 without question - scale, beauty and quality - it has a little bit of everything.

For cinephiles looking for their slice of gorgeous QLED technology, but without spending upwards of £2,000 - Samsung's Q60B QLED is the quintessential QLED experience, at a great price.

This colossal 75-inch TV is packed with rich colour and vibrancy - so you'll never miss a detail while enjoying your favourite films, TV shows or games. What's more, when paired with HDR10+, the Q60B truly shines amongst mid-range QLED TVs - delivering on a balance of brightness and sharpness that is particularly rare amongst televisions at its price.

In terms of its design, the Q60B is exquisitely flush and thin - making it perfect for wall mounting without issue. Paired with its ultra-thin bezels, the Q60B offers some seriously impressive immersion, heightened only by the sheer size of the screen itself.

Though you may be debating between getting a smaller 50-inch TV or the mammoth 70-inch, if you have the sheer space in your lounge to house such a massive television, then we cannot recommend the size upgrade enough. Samsung's Q60B strikes a fine, yet astounding balance between value and quality, and is a significant upgrade from a standard 4K television.

If cash happens to be no object for you, and you're adamant about constructing what is bound to be one of the finest gaming experiences available - Samsung's QN90B is among the best televisions ever made.

From its breathtakingly vivid 2,000 nits peak brightness QLED TV screen with a whopping 120Hz refresh rate to its numberless AI image-enhancing programs to tease out every gorgeous cinematic moment, or gaming detail possible - Samsung's QN90B is one seriously special television.

Bursting with tear-inducing gaming support from NVIDIA G-Sync to FreeSync Premium Pro, Game Modes and more - gaming is nothing short of breathtaking with the Samsung QN90B. Using all the sheer brawn of the QN90B's retina-searing brightness, and the singularly ecstatic black level control (which seems almost impossible on a QLED television), images explode from scenes with absolute colour and depth, drawing your eye inescapably towards the screen.

The QN90B is heaving with surround sound technology - Q-Symphony, Dolby Atmos, Dolby Digital Plus - sound is bold and moving, each swell of the symphonic score, every pop and rattle in the heat of combat - you will not be left hungry for more atmosphere with the QN90B - it's all there for the taking.

It's genuinely tough to nitpick with such an excellent television as the QN90B - but if we were to offer a couple criticisms, our main concern would be the price. At over £2,000 - this is no cheap television, it's one of the very best televisions on the market, not just for gaming but also for movie and TV show binge-watchers - and with its Neo-QLED technology, its 120Hz refresh rate and its copious Quantum AI image enhancers, and of course its enormous size - it's bound to be expensive.

For some, the second criticism we have of the QN90B (which also happens to be one of its greatest strengths) is its brightness. At times, the QN90B is very, very bright - making scenes in games, films or television that are already bright almost painful - but why else would you buy a QLED, if not for a true show of colour and excitement?

Last, but certainly not least - Samsung's QN800B - is a powerhouse of television and perhaps the ultimate way to experience cinema this year.

With full 8K viewing potential, partnered with some excellent Samsung Neo QLED technology - the QN800B's picture quality is nothing short of indescribable. At double the resolution of 4K (which is already mindblowing), the QN800B is a radical step in the evolution of television technology - with more to offer than any television on the market.

Every glimpse, every detail on-screen comes to life with ultra-high precision and beauty - in no small part thanks to the QN800B's Neural Quantum Processor, easily one of the most intelligent image enhancers in any television technology this year.

Gamers may be surprised to hear (as were we) that the QN800B has a rapacious 120Hz refresh rate that tears through gaming with ease - giving you some true versatility and future-proofing to keep you gaming for years to come.

Design-wise, the QN800B looks the part, and then some. The bezels are almost non-existent, a thin silver sliver of a border - which gives Samsung's QN800B an unparalleled elegance, especially when wall-mounted. It's also equipped with some seriously stellar Solar Cell remotes, which is unspeakably genius in our opinion.

In terms of sound - needless to say, the QN800B is incredibly powerful with a 70W audio output. Q-symphony, Adaptive Sound Plus and some clever internal speaker positioning work to dramatically enhance audio immersion, giving you a fully-rounded cinema experience in one beautiful television.

As a Neo QLED television - the QN800B's peak brightness is roughly 2,000 nits (almost quadruple that of a standard LED television), which can be both staggeringly beautiful and borderline painful. Bright white colours have an intensely beautiful purity to them, which is drawn out even more so by some particularly clever local dimming that gives black levels true darkness - but some users may find the contrast almost uncomfortable - so beware, the QN800B borders on too powerful.

To conclude, Samsung's QN800B is nothing short of a technological marvel - an excellent 8K television with a wealth of beautifying technology, incredible gaming support, astounding speakers, and a beautiful design - there's nothing that the QN800B cannot do - if you can spare the cash, you won't get a better cinematic experience for the money.

Hisense is constantly at the forefront of the competition when it comes to excellent budget televisions that rarely are held back by their lower price tag, and the 75A6BGTUK smart TV is no exception.

This enormous screen is a welcome addition to any lounge with plenty of room and is a real showstopper from the moment it's plugged in. A dazzling HDR-supported screen, almost non-existent bezels and a range of clever post-processing gives the 75A6BGTUK the edge over hordes of its competition that look comparatively quite bland - that isn't to say that there aren't any issues, however. Our gripes with the picture are largely prevalent during intense pure white lighting scenes or darker night tone scenes, where colours become a little lack-lustre, somewhat muddy, and don't quite pop as they should.

This is a simple limitation of budget and technology, however, it's not possible for an LED TV to quite capture the burning intensity of a QLED or OLED screen, but they can still look nice while trying to. Hisense has knocked it out of the park with the 75A6BGTUK, one of the most affordable, yet endlessly impressive 75-inch televisions on the market.

Consistently climbing the lists of the best value TVs of the year, LG's UQ80 is a prime example of just what a great budget television can truly offer.

Bursting with exciting features from its solid operating system to the wonderful magic remote (which is a hit with pretty much anyone who's had the fortune of trying it out), the UQ80 looks and feels like a television double its price. The colour and visuals on this delightful screen are lively and rich, with warmer natural tones that boldly shine.

Easy to set up (and mount, should you wish to grab that extra bit of elegance) the build quality of the UQ80 is nothing short of brilliant - with a slither of bezel that disappears the moment you power it up.

One of the more disappointing qualities of the UQ80, however, is the mediocre sound - which is no surprise with the television's 20W output. With the perfect TV speakers, however, we're certain you'll forget about this minor downside.

Philips has a range of excellent 4K TVs, but few can truly compete with the 75PUS7906 smart TV, one of the most jaw-dropping budget TVs we've come across.

Everything from its build quality to its picture exudes quality. With a design that's simply glorious, you'll be hard-pressed to find a television that looks half as good at the same price.

As for its picture, there's such a great amount of picture post-processing with the 75PUS7906 that it goes far beyond its humble LED panelling. Backed up with Ambilight too, and you're bound to have a night to remember. Perhaps if you're planning on hosting a brigade of guests, however, you should consider looking at some great speakers to adjust for the television's sheer scale - the built-in ones are a little weak for our liking.

If you're looking for the ultimate cinematic experience, then sound is paramount. But most lower-end televisions don't quite cut the mustard with offering booming, high-octane sounds to give you goosebumps - so it's time to look at the high-end.

Sony's XR-65A7K is a work of art in most regards - gorgeously designed, simple and efficient to navigate and not lacking in any gaming support, it's one of the greatest television experiences for its price on the market.

Utilising OLED panelling, the 65A75K replicates true black levels, giving you genuine depth to your images - an often overlooked aspect, but one you're bound to appreciate in person. The issue with this, however, is that OLED televisions conversely struggle with high levels of light, making it challenging to create those eye-popping QLED visuals, which the 65A75K can sometimes find difficult. Needless to say, however, this television is leaps and bounds ahead of most of its competition, and offers so much for its price, that we can't help but heartily recommend it.
