The Legend Of Zelda: Skyward Sword HD is coming to the Nintendo Switch on 16 July. Alongside Skyward Sword HD, Nintendo is releasing a set of limited edition Joy-Cons inspired by the Master Sword and Hylian Shield.

Originally released in 2011 for the Nintendo Wii, Skyward Sword is known for its changing locations, extensive dungeons, stamina gauge and paraglider. It also utilised the Wii’s motion controls - a feature that still divides audiences to this day.

While the Switch's Joy-Con motion-controls can be used to control the game, the HD release sees the addition of button-only controls, with Link’s sword and shield commands mapping to the analogue sticks. This also means that Skyward Sword HD can be played on the Switch Lite.

The Skyward Sword HD trailer came moments after director Eiji Aonuma politely quelled hopes for a Breath Of The Wild 2 reveal. We can expect to hear more about that hotly anticipated release in the coming year. It’s also fair to expect more news around Zelda’s back catalogue, given that this year marks the 35th anniversary of the series.
