The Xbox Games Showcase will be allowing audiences to take “a closer look at the future of gaming,” according to Aaron Greenberg, the GM of Xbox Games Marketing. The comments were made in a post to Xbox Wire on July 16.

The Xbox Games Showcase will be streaming at 9 am Pacific Standard Time (5 pm GMT) on July 23. It’ll run for about an hour.

Greenberg goes on to say that the event will include “world premieres and updated looks at some of the games we’ve already revealed.” This will include the “first-ever look at campaign gameplay from Halo Infinite.”

The Xbox Games Showcase will be streamed on YouTube at 1080p and 60fps. After the event, a 4K VoD will be available. Viewers can also tune in on Twitch, Facebook, and Twitter. It appears that Xbox has also realised the power of streaming and vlogging personalities, with Greenberg subtly encouraging co-streaming, watch-along parties, and reaction videos, even posting links to top streaming tips.

Greenberg also wrote on Twitter that the event will not contain news relating to “business, devices, or similar.” This is a coy way of telling us that there isn’t likely to be an announcement of price, release date, or confirmation around the elusive Project Lockhart console.

It seems clear that this event is Microsoft’s answer to Sony’s Future Of Gaming event, in which 26 PlayStation 5 games were announced – you can read the whole reveal list here.

A pre-show Summer Game Fest will begin at 8am PST (4pm GMT), and will feature many faces from the gaming community offering some teasers, insights and predictions for the Xbox Games Showcase and Xbox Series X.
