Summer Game Fest has kicked off with a world premiere from Gearbox and 2K Games. The game is Wonderlands, a high-fantasy tale in the vein of Borderlands. It even features the character, Tiny Tina.

The trailer was short but gave us a glance at a few interesting details. A cloaked figure stood atop a tower, seemingly tinkering with something, while below, a dragon rose to attack. We’ll save the best bits for you to discover yourself.

The announcement was followed by a quick chat between Summer Game Fest host Geoff Keighley and Tiny Tina voice actor, Ashly Burch. Burch confirmed that the game is a “high-fantasy take on a looter-shooter”, and that the development team were heavily influenced by the Borderlands 2 DLC, Tiny Tina’s Assault On Dragon’s Keep.

The game will have some new mechanics, including spell casting and the ability to build a custom character.

Wonderlands will be arriving early 2022.
