In a post on the PlayStation Blog, Shuhei Yoshida announced nine new indie titles that will make their way to the PlayStation 4 and PlayStation 5. Yoshida, Head of PlayStation Indies, noted the company’s ongoing commitment to making “indie developers’ lives easier” and to helping them make “titles shine in this super competitive video game market.”
The nine new titles were announced alongside the PlayStation Indies initiative, a program that intends to “spotlight” and “support” the best independent games and developers. Yoshida noted that these smaller development teams hold a fundamental role in the future of the PlayStation 5, and the video gaming world more widely, as AAA developers “are finding it harder to take risks to invest in new concepts that may or may not work.”
The nine titles are in addition to the indie titles seen in the Future Of Gaming event in June, which included Stray, Kena: Bridge Of Spirits, Goodbye Volcano High, and, of course, Bugsnax.
Here's a rundown of the nine newly announced indie titles heading to the PS4 and PS5 over the coming year:
Maquette, a game where players “explore and solve puzzles in a nested, recursive world.”
Worms Rumble, a title that switches up the franchise’s traditional turn-based battle gameplay with “three real-time game modes.”
Haven, a relaxing co-op title where players will be able to “explore a mysterious planet” with the one they love.
Carto, a puzzle game where players “connect missing pieces of a map to discover curious new lands.”
Heavenly Bodies, a physics-based survival co-op game with scenes reminiscent of 2013’s movie Gravity.
Creaks, a surreal mystery title where “objects are not what they seem.”
F.I.S.T: Forged In Shadow Torch, a chaotic action platformer where players take control of a “battle-hardened bunny wielding a massive metal fist.”
Recompile, a game where players hack their way “through a virtual world to escape deletion.”
Where The Heart Is, a narrative adventure that “blurs the line between truth and fiction.”
