LG has announced a new G1 Gallery OLED TV series at CES 2021. This new series is said to evolve the industry-leading qualities of LG’s OLED technologies with much-improved brightness and luminosity, resulting in a “punchier” image quality.
This increased luminosity should (hopefully) cure OLED of its somewhat lacklustre brightness, an issue that has haunted the technology - especially given the brightness of LCD competitors.

LG’s OLED G1 range is also carrying the next-generation processor, the Alpha 9 Gen4. This little chip promises to deliver increased image clarity through several means, such as AI Picture Pro which can differentiate between backgrounds, objects and text and process them separately for improved image clarity and rendering. This feature will also detect content genre, and optimise accordingly.
AI Sound Pro has also been updated to include audio up-mixing, which brings all audio up to a 5.1 standard through the TV speakers, and improved volume balancing across media source types.
The much-beloved ThinQ interface and app has been given a refresh, as has the Magic Remote, with some models including NFC Magic Tap functionality which allows for streamlined content mirroring on smartphones.
The G1 will be available in a range of sizes between 55-inches and 77-inches.
