Fans of Grand Theft Auto have been eagerly awaiting a new game, but it seems they're going to have to wait a little bit longer. 2025, if rumours are to be believed.
Gaming YouTuber, Tom Henderson, revealed the "rumblings behind the scenes" he's heard about GTA 6, which include being set in a remastered version of Vice City, and that expecting it in 2023/2024 would be... naive. GTA 6 will apparently be set in the 1980s, with a potentially huge, ever-changing map and plenty of DLC content to boot.
Tom Henderson has previously leaked correct Call of Duty and Battlefield 2042 details, so if the rumours are true, fans will no doubt be disappointed about the long waiting time.
When it comes to the characters, Tom suggests that there will be multiple, playable characters within the game, and one of which will be female.
The new game is believed to be coming to PS5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC, plus newer consoles that may be released over the next few years. It's unlikely that it will be coming to past-gen consoles like the PS4 and Xbox One.
The delays could be explained by Rockstar's current emphasis on employee wellbeing, as tight deadlines and long working hours do not bode well for a happy development team. As well as this, the shortages of current consoles could affect the game's success, so it's likely that Rockstar will want to wait for a larger audience share.
We'll be awaiting Rockstar's official announcement with bated breath.
