AskAboutGames has launched its latest campaign, Get Set Go!, which aims to provide parents with information and tips on the new gaming systems. Backed by the UK games industry (UKIE), the campaign will allow families to enjoy new next-gen consoles this Christmas period, comfortable in the knowledge that children are gaming in a fun and safe environment.

Andy Robertson, editor at AskAboutGames, describes the Get Set Go! campaign as follows:

“We're here to help you Get your next-gen console ready for play prior to the gifting day, Set family controls that work for their families and Go and have fun, safe in the knowledge that you have the controls in place to stay on top.”

The launch of a new console generation is a hugely exciting moment for gamers of all ages, but AskAboutGames recognises that those outside the community can find it all a little overwhelming and potentially confusing.

Play, learn, ask, you're in charge

AskAboutGames' website hosts a wealth of information for parents looking to purchase and set up consoles for their children. There’s comprehensive advice on buying the Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 consoles, and accompanying guides to help parents get the consoles set up.

These guides not only act as a way for ensuring that time-consuming updates are correctly installed and that child-friendly accounts are all set up ahead of Christmas, but that parental and family controls are in place. These parameters offer parents peace of mind that their child is having safe and appropriate fun while gaming.

As part of the ongoing Get Smart About P.L.A.Y initiative, AskAboutGames is also recommending that parents start open and honest conversations with their children about gaming, online safety and screen time. This campaign also encourages parents to play games with their children to understand the gaming world a little better - and who knows, maybe even have little fun along the way.
