As coronavirus has caused events to be cancelled, it has pushed everyone, by necessity, online. In place of the yearly E3 gaming event, developers have also been forced online, adapting to the extraordinary situation by quickly pulling together some impressive in-house live streamed events. Last night saw Electronic Arts take its turn with the EA Play Live event.
Star Wars: Squadrons gameplay
Star Wars: Squadrons’ gameplay was shown at length during the event, giving a real insight into what the game has to offer. While we were shown clips of starfighter skirmishes, TIE-fighter dogfights, and battlecruiser bombing runs, the solo and multiplayer game styles were revealed, along with information regarding the game’s VR compatibility and crossplay feature.
Apex Legends
Apex Legends, the battle royale shooter, is coming to both the Nintendo Switch and Steam. Significant news in isolation, this announcement was followed up by the revelation that the game will also be supporting crossplay, allowing users from PS4, Xbox One, PC, and Switch, to battle together online.

Picking up Steam
In addition to Apex Legends making the jump to Steam, EA announced that some other notable titles are now available on the platform, too. These being: 2018’s co-op action-adventure A Way Out; 2013’s sci-fi horror Dead Space 3; 2014’s life-sim The Sims 4, and 2016’s mech-FPS Titanfall 2.
Skate is back
Fans the internet over rejoiced at the new that the incredibly popular Skate series will be receiving a new instalment. There’s nothing else to tell, according to developers. We don't know what it'll be called, and there’s no artwork, trailer or gameplay. It's no real surprise, considering that development is in the early stages (though this fact alone strongly suggests that it’ll be appearing on the next-gen consoles).
