Launching in 1972, the Beogram 4000 is widely considered one of the most important record players ever created, and it’s certainly a classic within Bang & Olufsen’s impressive catalogue, which has been growing since 1925.
This year marks the brand's 95th birthday - to mark the occasion, B&O has located 95 original Beogram 4000s and restored them “for contemporary sound systems, while maintaining the timeless spirit at their core.” The restored models will be known as the Beogram 4000c Recreated Limited Edition.
This restoration isn’t just a quick polish and stylus change. It’s a process that has involved technicians and engineers updating, refurbishing and fine-tuning “every single element” of the record players. We are sure they sound immaculate - but if you want to make sure for yourself, you’ll need to part with $11,000. That’s roughly £8,456.
The turntable has been updated to include a top of the range stylus and RIAA phono pre-amplifier, which allows for a phono or 3.5mm connection. It also comes in a bespoke oak box. You can check out Bang & Olufsen’s website to see more information about the process.
We admire B&O very much, and if we had the chance, we’d jump at the chance to own one of the 95 Beogram 4000cs. However, as we don’t have that much spare change knocking about, we’re more than happy with our budget setup.
