The new ad form Apple is called “Over Sharing” and shows several people sharing, shouting and disclosing inappropriate personal information with strangers. From awkward browsing histories and gossiping DMs, to bizarre articles and credit card information, the ad aims to highlight the risks associated with mishandled and unprotected digital data.
While also bringing these issues to light, the ad tells viewers that the inbuilt privacy and security tools found in Apple’s iPhone range can protect users from embarrassing, dangerous and costly leaks and privacy invasions.
Apple has often touted its security credentials, with this ad only adding to a stream of strong privacy and security claims. “Over Sharing” comes ahead of the upcoming iPhone 12 and related products, plus the iOS 14 update. This includes many new privacy features and advertisement tracking blocks, limiting third-party developer access.
