Amazon has launched a selection of child-friendly versions of the Amazon Echo Dot. These devices have been available in the US for quite a few years, and they are now finally being released in the UK.

The smart speakers have been branded as a learning tool, and Amazon has claimed that it has put strict safety guidelines on these smart speakers. However, parents should be advised that the devices will still be gathering information on their kids, which will no doubt cause controversy.

It is available in a tiger or panda design, and in an effort to demonstrate that it's a learning tool, the smart speaker also comes with a year's worth of Amazon Kids, which has content specifically for children, including audiobooks.

Other included features are time limits, parental controls, and suggestions of educational and entertaining activities to do when they say "Alexa, I'm bored".

It also has a function called "the Magic Word", which will utilise positive reinforcement and encourage and reward children for using the word "please".

If you're wondering when they're going to be available to purchase, the answer is very soon! The smart speaker will be officially launched on 21 July and will have an RRP of £59.99 - £10 more than the adult, or usual Echo Dot. You can preorder below.
