It's official, we finally have confirmation of the release date and new features that will be present in Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut.
Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut, which comes from Sucker Punch Productions, will premiere on 20 August for PS4 and PS5. It is set to feature a whole new island, storyline and mini-games. All additional Tsushima content will also be included.
In addition to these universal extras and increased loading times, the PS5 version of the game is getting some exclusive upgrades, including Japanese lip-sync, improvements on 3D audio and frame rates targeting 60fps. The PS5 version will also take advantage of the DualSense controller's haptic feedback.
Fans have been asking for the Japanese lip-sync feature for a while. In the original edition of Tsushima, characters speak with English lip movements with a Japanese voice-over.
The new island is called Iki and will appear to new players after Act 1. Protagonist Jin will travel to Iki following up on rumours of Mongol presence, and in doing so unearths some personal trauma. This area will also feature new environments and equipment.
Ghost of Tsushima Director's Cut will cost you £69.99 on PS5 and £59.99 on the PS4. Pre-orders are now available. If you preorder the PS5 version on the PS Store, you will get immediate access to the standard PS4 version of the game immediately.
Players will also be able to transfer save files from PS4 to PS5.
If you already have Ghost of Tsushima on PS4, you can upgrade to the Director’s Cut, but it'll cost you. It's retailing for $19.99 in the US, so expect similar in the UK.
If you buy the PS4 version of Ghost of Tsushima: Director’s Cut, you can upgrade to the PS5 version of the Director’s Cut edition for $9.99.
Alternatively, players with the standard PS4 version can jump straight to the Director's Cut on PS5 for an upgrade of $29.99.
All PS5 versions of Ghost of Tsushima will include the Director's Cut content.
