A buyer's guide to Amazon Prime Big Deal Days and Prime Day

What's The Best Prime Day banner

What is Prime Big Deal Days?

Prime Big Deal Days is another Prime Day sale, but rather than happening in July, it happens in October. There will be deals rolling over the duration of the event, with some being present for the entire 48-hour period and others being available for a short time with limited stock (these are called Lightning Deals). The conditions for getting deals are just the same – you must be an Amazon Prime member.

What time does Amazon Prime Big Deal Days end?

The October 2024 Prime Big Deal Days sale is now over. It ended at 11:59pm on Wednesday 9th October.

How long does Amazon Prime Big Deal Days last?

Amazon Prime Day events run for two days, from midnight to midnight over a 48-hour period.

If you are in the mood for even more deals, prepare for Black Friday 2024. It's a bigger and longer event than Prime Day, and it's going deliver even more deals from even more retailers.

Do you have to be a Prime member to get deals during Prime Day?

Yes. Prime Day is an exclusive event for Prime members.

How do I get Amazon Prime?

You can sign up for a 30-day free trial of Amazon Prime. After the free trial, Prime costs £8.99 per month. In addition to Prime Day discounts, you'll have access to a wide array of benefits, including:

Unlimited One-Day Delivery: Free one-day delivery on millions of items.

Same-Day Delivery: Free same-day delivery on orders over £40 in eligible postcodes.

Prime Now: Ultra-fast delivery within two hours in select postcodes.

Prime Video and Prime Music: Access to thousands of movies and TV shows, including exclusive Amazon Originals. Ad-free streaming of over two million songs and thousands of playlists and stations.

Prime Reading: Unlimited access to a rotating selection of over a thousand eBooks, magazines, comics, and more.

Twitch Prime: Free monthly subscription on Twitch and access to free in-game loot and games.

Prime Wardrobe: Try-before-you-buy on clothing, shoes, and accessories.

Prime Early Access: 30-minute early access to Lightning Deals and exclusive promotions.

What happens on Prime Day?

Prime Day is Amazon's annual shopping event dedicated to Prime members, offering them exclusive access to deals and discounts across numerous categories. It spans 48 hours, during which members can find significant price reductions on a wide range of products, including electronics, home appliances and more. It’s an event marked by a high volume of special offers, with some of the most popular items being discounted to their lowest prices of the year.

One of the key features of Prime Day is the availability of Lightning Deals, which are time-limited offers that provide deep discounts but are available only for a short period or until the allocated stock is depleted. These deals often rotate throughout the day. As well as Lightning Deals, Prime Day also includes Spotlight Deals, which are highlighted for their exceptional value and typically last longer than Lightning Deals.

Beyond just the discounts, Amazon often uses Prime Day to introduce new products or exclusive launches, adding an element of excitement and exclusivity to the event.
