The AmazonBasics Slow Cooker is a standard model of slow cooker, although note it doesn't come with any recipes unlike many of its peers.
It's available in two sizes: 3.5L and 6.5L - we'd recommend the larger one if you're cooking for a family rather than just one or two of you.
Features: Available in 3.5L or 6.5L Bright cherry-red colour Three temperature settings Condensation seal on lid Rubber feet
The Review
Our tester used the AmazonBasics Slow Cooker several weeks, cooking meals for her and her husband. Here are her thoughts:
Featuring three heat settings and a keep-warm feature, this slow cooker is on par with its peers and there’s little to fault it. While it’s available in two sizes we opted for the larger 6.5L slow cooker, which I would highly recommend you do if you have a family or like to batch cook.
I couldn’t be happier with this purchase as mealtimes are now a doddle – everything from our usual Bolognese or a curry is so easily achieved and now we don’t have to worry about roasts or braising meats. It has added dishes to our weekly possibilities – brisket on a weeknight makes my heart skip a beat and it comes out perfect every time.
The main downside is that it doesn’t come with any recipes. It also didn't seem to have a conventional seal on the lid; however, the instructions say it uses a condensation seal, meaning if you lift the lid you ruin the seal - but I’m not opposed to the house smelling like our cooking.
Using a slow cooker means I can relax more too; I can easily let it sit cooking while cracking on with other tasks around the house.
If you are looking for an item more up-market, I would recommend looking at one that allows for sautéing to keep all the cooking in one pot.
Pros: Easy to use Available in two sizes Three temperature settings Cons: Doesn't allow sautu00e9ing Doesn't come with any recipes
