With a first-class BA in English from the University of Exeter, Harvey wrote and later edited for Exeposé, their student-led paper. He also has extensive experience in content creation and social media management, having recently worked with MUBI.
Writing
Harvey has been passionate about writing his entire life, from his early days of contributing to his secondary school paper. While at university, his love for research and journalism grew as he moved from writer to editor for Exeposé, the student-led paper. In addition to his academic pursuits, Harvey has always been immersed in literature, relishing books and magazines and writing and reading screenplays. He also worked at Waterstones during his studies.
Social Media
In 2022, he launched an Instagram page dedicated to discussing and recommending film and TV content, combining his interests in writing, film, and graphic design. He has quickly become a prominent voice in the film Instagram community, amassing an audience of over 270K and earning recognition from industry figures such as Sean Baker, Sandy Powell, Glenn Close, and Sharon Stone. He merges his love for writing and films by crafting daily reviews for the social media platform. In 2024, he successfully partnered with the global streaming service, production company, and film distributor MUBI.
Harvey has a keen eye for photography and loves all types of cameras. From an early age, he has been captivated by the technicalities of film and digital photography and has recently taken up the hobby of collecting old cameras. You can find his work here.
Tech
During his time at university, Harvey had the opportunity to wield some more formidable cameras while serving as a cinematographer for several shorts. He then advanced to Assistant Director and Producer for a BFI-commissioned short film, premiering in February 2024. Since then, his passion for all things film-related has grown, encompassing everything from lenses and tripods to monitors, memory drives, camera accessories, and sound equipment.
Besides his love for writing, films, and photography, Harvey is also an avid music enthusiast. He enjoys listening to music on his turntable and Sonos home speaker system, as well as attending gigs and festivals. Additionally, he finds escapism in gaming, often trying to relive his initial playthrough of Red Dead Redemption 2 on Xbox.
Fitness
Harvey has always been a swimmer, regularly attending his local club. However, when the pandemic hit and his local pool closed, he fully embraced running and cycling to keep fit and stay sane under lockdown restrictions.
Away from the hustle and bustle, Harvey finds refuge in the great outdoors, often hiking with his family, friends, and two canine companions. He enjoys exploring the rugged terrain of Devon, Cornwall, and, more recently, Scotland and Wales. He loves discovering hidden gems and photography spots along the way.
