Eleanor Weaver
Eleanor (Ellie) is the Deputy Homes & Garden Product Editor for Yours, Modern Gardens and Take A Break Pets. In this role, she oversees the best-of listicles, how-to guides and product reviews across homes, gardens, pets and everything in between.
Ellie began her passion for writing while studying for her English Literature and Drama BA at The University of Kent, where she was the Culture Editor of the university paper, InQuire. She actively wrote a blog whilst travelling during her year abroad in Denmark and she subsequently joined Bauer Media Group soon after she graduated. In 2017, she started working for Yours Magazine as part of the Commercial Team, hosting in-person events for the lovely Yours readers and recommending the best products on the pages of the magazine. She then became a commercial writer for What's The Best amongst others, researching and continuing the pursuit of must-have buys for our audiences.
Having been a renter for a decade now, Ellie has had the joy of hunting for the best she can get for her money, and as a result has become an expert on finding the best on a budget. Be that furniture, tech or appliances, she's learnt exactly what to look for and become a master at home DIY. In one of her last flats, her landlord even let her pick the new washing machine which she was thrilled to source. So whether you're after a Shark vacuum or a beer fridge, you know Ellie's put her heart into finding the best available.
While Ellie's love for playing games is limited to the Nintendo Switch (she was one of those who went hard with Animal Crossing during the pandemic), mobile games and The Sims, she moreso enjoys watching Let's Play videos on YouTube and via her partner. As an avid PC gamer who built his own gaming PC, attends Insomnia, and bought a PS5 (after convincing Ellie), she's been exposed to the gaming universe through him.
In her spare time, Ellie loves to read (the bookshelves are a staple in her home), go to gigs, and try out new crafts. From Jesmonite casting to candle-making, crochet to painting, she’s prepared to turn a dab hand to anything that looks good in the home. While she's fallen out of love with gym, she used to be an avid gym-goer and completed the Great South Run in 2019, raising money for the Alzheimer's Society.
